Historically, Coast Salish peoples lived on the beaches, adjacent to rivers, surrounded by forests, and the bordering mountains. The ocean and forests were our backyard. Ancestral teachings and experiences stem from their ability to live in harmony within those environments. It is a holistic way of living and being.
We provide cultural programming where Elders, adults and youth engage in intergenerational knowledge transfer through experiential learning opportunities. Through these programs we pass down ancestral wisdom, enhancing the understanding of who we are and have always been. Sharing cultural practices through Indigenous pedagogy; inclusive of all including LGTBQIA+ and/or Two Spirit, gender-diverse, disabled and neurodiverse. These teachings shared with youth on their traditional territories are creating a generation that will have the living knowledge to protect their sacred homelands.
